Conference Platform Skills

Why Conference Platform Skills?

Presenting to very large groups at a conference or a seminar is one of the most stressful things that many people have to do.  This is borne out by the fact that speaking in public is the number one phobia in the world today.  Addressing a conference requires effective presentation skills such as clear communication, being relevant and meaningful and engaging the audience.  It requires skill as well as the ability to handle those nerves.

What results will I achieve?

Course participants find that they are able to improve their self-image, build confidence and deal with nerves and nervous energy in a creative way.  They will also be able to create and use visual aids that are memorable and focussed.  This two-day conference platform skills workshop addresses all the problems faced by the presenter including:

  • Physical skills and personal image to maintain rapport
  • Audience contact and control
  • Planning and organisation of material
  • Use of audio and visual media (PowerPoint, microphone systems etc.)
  • Handling audience participation assertively
  • Gaining commitment and moving to action

Who is it for?

Anyone wishing to develop their presentation skills when having to address large groups.  From managers wanting successful outcomes with their demanding audiences, to clinicians or researchers preparing for national or international meetings.

How is it structured?

Presentation skills are demonstrated by the tutors, using short input sessions, exercises and skills practise.  Frameworks are all modelled upon people who have demonstrated Excellence in their field.
