Supervisory Skills
As organisations become more complex, with flatter structures and matrix-managed teams, more people are taking on Supervisory and Team Leader roles rather than becoming a traditional Manager.
But without development in this new role such people can retreat into doing their familiar day job, only manage reactively and rely on variable experience rather than best practice. This programme gives new and existing supervisors the security of having the essential insights and skills to supervise and manage smaller work groups, shifts and teams.
Of the many topics included, Supervisors can select to:
- Know how to set team goals and agree individual targets
- Understand the importance of role clarity and delegation
- Be able to monitor performance and progress against the plan
- Know how to structure an interview for recruitment or appraisal
- Be able to give constructive feedback, training and coaching
- Understand motivation and how to influence it in self and others
- Identify gaps in performance and be able to use the Skill/Will matrix
- Be able to create rapport with anyone
- Understand how teams perform and develop with time
- Know how to communicate and run team meetings effectively
- Managing time and stress in yourself and others
- Optional Extras:
- Self Assessments; MBTI, FIRO-B, Belbin Team Roles
- 360° Assessment; Social Styles, Belbin Team Roles, Leader Navigator
The programme is designed so that different levels of manager and supervisor can benefit together leading to greater understanding and consistency of approach within the organisation as a whole.
