Feedback and Coaching
Outcome
To improve the ability of managers and those involved in coaching to develop the effectiveness and potential of themselves and others. Besides considering formal appraisals, day to day feedback skills are also addressed.
Training Methods
Highly participative training methods include short presentations, practical activities, reviews and focus on real work coaching situations.
Content
This coaching and mentoring workshop recognises the responsibility of managers for developing and motivating others to achieve higher levels of competence and performance. It heightens the awareness, skills and knowledge essential for producing significant results. It also offers a range of face-to-face skills appropriate for different individuals and circumstances.
The content is dependent upon the aims and development needs of the participants and examples of possible areas for inclusion are:-
- Establishing the organisational requirements for performance and results
- Identifying the individual needs for development
- Identifying the individual needs for development
- Maintaining criteria for assessing effectiveness
- Styles of communication and their appropriateness in different coaching situations
- Managing performance feedback, praise and criticism
- Individual's styles of learning and performance
- Drawing up and agreeing action plans for development
- Creating a supportive and learning team environment
- Feedback - giving “bad” news
This workshop can be tailored to dovetail with and complement any existing appraisal system.

Anyone in a mentoring or coaching role or is in some way responsible for the development of others.

1-2 days (2 days is recommended if appraisals are to be covered in detail).
